Living
to the rhythm of water
Camping by the sea on L’île de ré
Your campsite on the L’île de Ré enjoys a privileged location in Rivedoux-Plage, between two beaches and with direct access to the North beach. Here, the shore is part of your everyday life.
Fine sand, the sound of the waves and iodized air accompany your every day.
For families dreaming of a seaside campsite near Sainte-Marie-de-Ré, this is the ideal address.
Swimming from the campsite
From Le Platin – La Redoute campsite, you can walk to the North beach in just a few minutes, thanks to direct access. No need to take the car: put on your swimsuit, grab your towels and enjoy a swim in the Atlantic Ocean any time of day. The kids can build sandcastles while you bask in the sun.
And if the tide isn’t right, the campsite’s heated swimming pool is there to prolong the pleasure of the water.
The most beautiful beaches to discover near the village of Sainte-Marie-de-Ré
Rivedoux-Plage offers two very different atmospheres. The windy North beach is the playground for water sports enthusiasts. The more sheltered south beach attracts families and bathers in search of tranquillity.
As you explore L’île de ré, you’ll discover other remarkable beaches. Trousse-Chemise beach in Les Portes-en-Ré, made famous by Charles Aznavour, is a veritable little corner of paradise: stroll along the water’s edge, picnic in the shade of the tamarisk trees and swim in a wild setting. Beware, however, of tides and currents. Not far away, the Prises beach, with its pebbles and areas ideal for fishing, offers a natural and soothing setting.
By bike or by car, all these beaches are easily accessible from our seaside campsite on L’île de ré.
Water activities for the whole family
L’île de ré is an adventure playground for water sports enthusiasts. The island’s sailing schools offer courses and equipment rentals for the whole family, from beginners to the most experienced.
On the northern beach of Rivedoux-Plage, just a stone’s throw from the campsite, kitesurfing is king. Wind conditions are ideal for both beginners and advanced riders. Those who prefer a gentler glide can opt for the stand-up paddle, perfect for exploring the coastline at your own pace. A sea kayak outing also allows you to skirt the coastline and discover the salt marshes from the water, offering a unique view of the Retais landscape.
Fishing on L’île de ré
Fishing on foot is an unmissable tradition on L’île de ré. At low tide, grab a bucket and a landing net and set off in search of shellfish, crabs and shrimp on the rocky foreshores. It’s a family activity par excellence, accessible to all and free of charge.
Sea fishing enthusiasts will also find something to their liking: shore fishing or boat trips are available from several of the island’s ports. You’ll be able to bring back some great catches and extend the maritime atmosphere to your plate.
